Why curbside costs less
Most of the time on a junk job isn't driving. It's waiting at the door, walking through the house, wrapping a banister, and carrying a dresser down two flights.

No travel fees
No need to be home
One item to a truckload
Take that out and a pickup takes about ten minutes. So we charge less for it. Curbside pickups start at $69, and that includes loading, the dump fee and any recycling.
"Curbside" just means we can reach it without coming into your house:
- At the curb or the end of the driveway
- In the back alley, next to your garage or fence
- Just inside an open garage door
- On a condo parking pad or loading zone, if your building allows it
If something can't come out on its own, we can come inside and carry it. That's an inside pickup, and it costs a bit more.

Built for small jobs
We run one pickup truck with a 6.5 ft bed. No dump truck, no crew, no call centre. That's why one old chair doesn't come with a $150 minimum.
It also means we're good at the small stuff and honest about the big stuff. A couch, a mattress, a fridge in the garage, a pile of boxes after a move, ten bags of leaves: that's our job. If you're clearing out a whole house or a full basement, you need a bigger truck than ours, and we'll tell you so.
What we take
- Couches, chairs, tables, dressers and desks
- Mattresses, box springs and bed frames
- Fridges, freezers, washers, dryers and stoves
- Bagged garbage, boxes and general clutter
- BBQs (no tank), bikes, toys and patio sets
- TVs and electronics
- Bagged yard waste and branches cut to length
- Small amounts of reno leftovers
What we don't take
- Paint, chemicals, fuel and propane tanks
- Tires and car batteries
- Concrete, dirt, rock and shingles
- Asbestos or anything hazardous
- Hot tubs, pianos and safes
- Anything that takes two people to lift

Where we pick up
We're based in southeast Calgary and run routes through the southeast, southwest and northwest every Tuesday and Friday. Same price in every community.
Where your junk goes
The landfill is the last stop, not the first. Furniture in decent shape goes to donation when a charity will take it. Metal goes to scrap. TVs and electronics go to recycling. What's left goes to the City landfill, and the dump fee is already in your price.

Jaron and the truck
Who's picking it up
I'm Jaron. I started hauling junk as a teenager with my own little company, Whelan Boys Junk Removal, and I never quite stopped.
Curbside Junk Removal YYC is the version I always wanted to run. Posted prices instead of "we'll have to come see it." Online booking instead of phone tag. One truck, one guy, small jobs done properly.
When you book, I'm the one who shows up.
Jaron Whelan, owner
Questions
Something else? Ask with your quote.
Do I need to be home?
No. You pay online when you book, put everything out by 8 am, and we text you a photo when it's gone.
What days do you pick up?
Tuesdays and Fridays. Have it out by 8 am. We'll text you the day before as a reminder.
How much does junk removal cost in Calgary?
With us, curbside pickups start at $69 for one item. Bigger loads are priced by how much of the truck bed they fill. Use the quote tool for your exact number. It takes about 30 seconds.
Why is curbside cheaper?
Because it's faster. No coming inside, no stairs, no waiting at the door. We pass that time saving on to you.
Can you come inside and get it?
Yes, for a bit more. Inside pickups need someone home, and we'll ask about stairs when you book.
What won't you take?
Paint, chemicals, propane tanks, fuel, tires, car batteries, concrete, dirt, rock, shingles, asbestos or anything hazardous. We also skip hot tubs, pianos, safes and anything that takes two people to lift. Paint, chemicals and tires can usually go to a City of Calgary drop-off for free.
What if there's more at the curb than in my photo?
We'll text you the difference before we load anything. You approve it or we take only what you booked.
Do you do full house cleanouts?
Not right now. We stick to single items up to a pickup-truck load. For a whole house, a company with a big truck or a bin rental will do it better.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Change or cancel for free up to 24 hours before your pickup.
