The lake gets the attention, but most of what ends up at the curb here comes from the garage and the basement. Arbour Lake was laid out in the early 90s between Crowchild Trail, Stoney Trail, Country Hills Boulevard and Nose Hill Drive. Plenty of those first owners are still in their houses.
Junk pickup in Arbour Lake runs Tuesdays and Fridays. Book and pay online, leave it at the end of the driveway by 8 am, and go about your day. We text a photo when it's gone.
Where to leave it in Arbour Lake
Most homes have a front garage and a short driveway, so the bottom of the drive works. If your street slopes, set things on the flat part near the curb so a dresser doesn't tip over before we get there.
The streets closer to the lake and the Crowfoot side are busier. Moving the car off the curb the night before gives us room to pull in close.
Please don't set anything out the day before. Overnight, a mattress soaks up dew and gets twice as heavy.
What people get rid of in Arbour Lake
Thirty-odd years in one house adds up. The common pattern is a downsizing parent, or grown kids clearing out a room that's been storage since they left.
- Waterbed frames and the heavy oak bedroom sets from the 90s
- Tube TVs and old stereo cabinets
- Patio sets that have seen too many summers on the deck
- Boxes of paperwork and old toys from the crawl space
Electronics go to recycling. Furniture that a charity will take goes there first.
