The Downtown West End runs from 9 Street to 14 Street SW, between the Bow River and the CPR tracks. It's almost all condo and apartment towers now, with only a couple dozen detached houses left. Plenty of people rent, and leases turn over all year.
That makes junk removal in the Downtown West End a little different. There's no driveway to leave things on. Most bookings here are a pickup from the building's loading zone or the curb out front. We don't come up to units. Pickups run on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Where to leave it in the Downtown West End
Curbside here means the curb out front, the building's loading area, or a parking pad if you have one. It never means a hallway, a lobby or the garbage room.
Every building has its own rules. Some want the service elevator booked, some want moves done during set hours, and many fine owners for leaving furniture by the bins. Check with your property manager before you book.
If you can bring it down yourself, set it at the loading zone right before pickup, not hours early. Items left on a downtown sidewalk don't last long.
What people get rid of in the Downtown West End
Small units, lots of moves. The usual list:
- Mattresses and bed frames at the end of a lease
- IKEA shelves and desks that won't survive another move
- Old TVs and monitors
- A loveseat that won't fit the new place
Electronics go to recycling. Furniture in good shape goes to donation when a charity will take it.
