North Haven Upper is the small, newer half of North Haven, up the hill against Nose Hill Park. Building started here in 1977, about fifteen years after the lower part. It's only a couple of hundred homes, on a handful of streets with the park right behind them.
It's mostly owner-occupied, so junk pickup in North Haven Upper is usually one household clearing one room or one garage. Book online, leave your items out by 8 am on a Tuesday or Friday, and you don't need to be home. We'll text you a photo when we're done.
Where to leave it in North Haven Upper
Homes up here are mostly detached, with attached garages and driveways. The bottom of the driveway is the easiest spot for us.
Lots that back onto the park are tempting places to stash a pile behind the fence. Please don't. We can't reach it there, and anything on the park side can be treated as dumping. Bring it around front.
Put it out the morning of, especially bagged garbage. There's wildlife off the hill.
What people get rid of in North Haven Upper
Houses here are coming up on 45 to 50 years old. Many owners have been here a long time. Typical pickups:
- Original light fixtures and ceiling fans from an update
- Rec-room furniture from the 1980s
- An old exercise bike or rowing machine
- Patio furniture and a rusty BBQ (no propane tank)
A BBQ is mostly metal, so it goes to scrap. Remove the tank first and take it to an exchange or Eco Centre.
