Strathcona Park is almost entirely detached houses, built from 1980 on, on the hill west of Sarcee Trail and south of Bow Trail. The park the community is named for sits in the middle, with the ravines running down from it. Plenty of the people who bought new here in the 80s still live here.
That makes for a certain kind of junk removal in Strathcona Park. Forty years of things, slowly being let go. A rec room sofa, a sewing table, a basement freezer that hums too loud. Leave it at the end of your driveway by 8 am on Tuesday or Friday. You don't need to be home, and we send a photo when it's gone.
Where to leave it in Strathcona Park
Homes here have front garages and driveways. Set items at the bottom, just off the sidewalk.
Some lots back onto the green spaces and ravines. Don't leave anything on the park side. We can only load from the street.
Many driveways here have a real slope. If you're downsizing and the dresser is too heavy to move far, leave it just inside an open garage door. Getting hurt isn't worth it.
What people get rid of in Strathcona Park
Downsizers and second owners doing first renovations, mostly. Common pickups:
- Solid wood bedroom sets and china cabinets
- 1980s and 90s recliners and sofas
- Old dehumidifiers, freezers and bar fridges
- Original light fixtures and bathroom vanities after an update
If something still works and is in decent shape, it goes to donation when a charity will take it.
